The next stage of Counterline’s ‘Machine Line Capital Investment Programme’ kickstarted on September 16th with the installation of the new state of the art Trupunch-3000 machine.
Why the Trupunch-3000?
Counterline have long recognised the benefits of lean manufacturing and the tooling and technical advancements provided by the machine strengthen give the flexibility to process a diverse range of parts, as well as strengthened manufacturing capabilities.
In practice
Trupunch-3000 is an innovative solution to producing parts with formed features that were previously unachievable. Focusing initially on the production of tapped holes, around 70% of parts that would have previously required secondary assembly work to produce the holes can now be manufactured on the new punch. This has not only streamlined the production process but brought immense cost savings in assembly via reduced build time and inventory.
Working to reduce set up times and equipped with 4 multi-tool stations, two 5 stations and two 10 stations, the stations combined provide a versatile library of tools that are pre-loaded on the machine.
The machine can also punch sheets of up to 6.4mm to a high quality with minimal scratching.
As well as being energy efficient, the operators console software allows for each programme to be readily loaded, meaning parts can be punched with minimal operator input.
Productivity Improvements
Despite the Trupunch-3000 still being in early days with Counterline, productivity has already significantly improved. The machine has also proved to be a hit with employees, and they have all reacted positively to the installation of the latest addition to the production family.
