How To Build A Grab and Go Menu

03/02/2021Guy ParkerNews

Whether you run a restaurant, cafe or are even in charge of a school kitchen, grab and go options are always going to be a welcome addition to any menu. The right food choices have the ability to boost productivity, be an important contribution to a healthy diet as well as make it incredibly easy to dine sufficiently when short on time.

Building a grab and go menu can be just the thing businesses need to bring something fresh to the table, and if you’re already taking advantage of one, there are things you can do to make it the best it can possibly be. With people of all demographics as potential customers, it makes sense to utilise grab and go as best you can.

Building a grab and go menu that entices

Restaurant dining can’t be enjoyed right now due to the pandemic, so more and more people are turning to meal options to go and take out meals. They can enjoy the quality of a dine-in meal but with the added benefit of convenience.

To create a successful grab and go menu, you’ll need to keep a few things in mind;

  • Ensure you have a great range of healthy foods to satisfy a range of tastes and dietary requirements.
  • Provide high quality food items with a range of fresh, tasty ingredients.
  • Make sure it’s easy for customers to pick what they want and to view exactly what you have on offer.
  • Label each item clearly with the correct product and dietary information.

Creating your menu

Plan your food in advance

Having a good idea of what you’ll include in your grab and go options will ensure you always get a good range of food on the go for a diverse range of customers. Track what’s on your shelves each week and the popularity of each item, which will then help you to plan future menus with more popular items.

Eye-catching packaging

No one will want to pick up items with bland packaging, or packaging which doesn’t enable customers to see what they’re buying. Clear, recyclable packaging will not only grab the attention of busy customers, but will also be kind to the environment and make picking something easier!

Rotating food depending on the time of day

Provide different meals for different times of the day to keep your customers coming back for more. Try a range of cereal, breakfast wraps, yoghurt and fruit for breakfast, salads, sandwiches or cold wraps for lunch, and a choice of snacks such as cheese, fruit and cookies to satisfy hunger.

Attractive displays

Displays don’t have to be boring. Our wide range of food servery displays are designed to meet the needs of our customers and can be customised to suit different requirements. Lighting and branding can really change how food is presented and is more likely to attract customers to your offering.

Choose grab and go for convenience and variety

Grab and go options can be an additional source of income for struggling businesses in the industry and perfect to satisfy the needs of busy diners. Here at Counterline, we’re UK leaders in customised grab and go display units, as well as our COVID-safe retractable glass units.

If we can be of assistance or if you have any questions, please get in touch with the Counterline team on 0151 548 2211 or enquiries@counterline.co.uk and we’ll be happy to help.
