Creating the ultimate food merchandising display

19/01/2021Guy ParkerNews

The right design and layout can make all the difference when it comes to creating that immaculate food merchandising display. Not only will it look great, but it can also be a big deciding factor for whether customers choose you or a competitor. Knowing how to attract the right customer into your establishment will make the selling part much easier, and after they have one amazing experience, they will be returning time and time again.

Creating that pleasant experience for a customer is dependent on a number of factors. Here are a handful of things we always keep in mind when creating our displays for customers around the world and some tips to get the most out of your display.

Spacing is key

Cramming food and drinks onto shelves isn’t good for a number of reasons, even if you think you’ll sell more that way. For one, it won’t look appealing to the customer and may be incredibly confusing to distinguish one type of food from another. Also, cramming food into a chilled or heated display for example may prevent food temperature from being regulated, resulting in food being spoiled.

Always ensure your displays are large enough for what you want to offer your customers and spend time organising your food and drink items, labeling them well and creating clear options for eat in or take out diners. Our customised displays can help cater for large or small foodservice establishments – let’s have a chat about your requirements.

Cross-merchandising where appropriate

Whether it’s a healthy meal deal or foods that simply go well together, organising your displays in the right way can help to secure more sales. Understanding your customer and how they shop is a big part of cross-merchandising and can improve a customer’s overall experience.

Here at Counterline, we have everything you need to create the best heated, chilled and ambient displays for your foodservice establishment. Get in touch with us for help or advice on what will suit your customers best.

Lighting

Clever store lighting is not the only thing that will grab your customers’ attention – display lighting on your products can also show off your items in the best way possible. Better lighting means your food and drink items will look better on the shelf and more appealing when a customer is looking for new things to try. Experiment a little with different products and light intensities to see what suits you and your branding.

Labelling and rotating

Clear labels work wonders and allowing your customers to understand exactly what they’re choosing will make their lives much easier. Grab and go options need to be exactly what their name suggests, with the customer being able to grab what they need quickly and to get on with their day.

Regularly checking your food and drink displays to ensure they’re visually appealing and ensuring that best before dates are ordered correctly to prevent food wastage is also important. Your displays should always entice a customer, allowing them to see a wide range of options available to them, whatever their dietary requirements or preferences.
