Counter top Display Units

A counter top display unit is a retail merchandiser designed to be placed on a shop counter at eye level or within the line of sight of customers.

In this way it has two main functions. First to make good use of limited space, and second to advertise products to consumers, encouraging them to make purchases. Particularly they encourage customers to make impulse purchases, as these units are often found right next to the till.

These units are versatile. The product may be a counter top display fridge, or heated, or ambient in temperature. The unit can have an open front for customer to self serve from the front, or closed so that produce is protected from public contact by a glass window.

Counterline offer counter top units in the vision aire range. Most of our units are free standing and therefore flexible on where they can be positioned in your establishment. Take a look at our full complement of countertops across the idesign range for examples of drop-in counters in all of our contemporary designs.

Countertop Display Units

Where are counter top display units used?

In a small establishment, a counter top display unit is ideal because of its compact size. A takeaway or small independent shop could benefit from having one of these fitted if the majority of their stock is not chilled for example.

A counter top display unit can be placed on top of a lower level storage unit, conserving space but ensuring that the produce displayed inside is the first thing the customer sees. A counter top cake display fridge looks enticing in any cafe, and a bottle cooler in a small bar won’t take up too much space while being on show, and accessible by staff and customers.

In a larger store, a business owner might find one of these units lucrative as they are able to display offers or reduced items to customers who are about to pay. The freedom in this type of arrangement means that chilled produce nearing its sell by date can be positioned at the point of purchase and kept within a safe, temperature regulated environment to prolong its life as much as possible.

How do counter top display units work?

We designed our counter top displays with versatility in mind. We have heated, chilled and ambient options. For a stylish front of house look, opt for a rear-loading, heated baking and display oven or a heated bain marie style buffet for self service.

A curved design looks smart and blends into shop and cafe counters well. A triple-shelved unit with individual acrylic hinged flaps maintains a low ambient temperature and minimises exposure of produce to the outside elements.

Our Vision Aire line features a square design heated option, so that the top of the unit can be used as additional space for displaying items, or food can be viewed from above.
