Commercial Hot Plates

Commercial kitchen hot plates do more than just keep food products warm – they also act as display cases and merchandiser units whether enclosed for assisted service, or open-fronted for self-service.

Electronic controls make it easy to adjust the temperature with individual gastronorm modules each with its own element and smooth ceramic hot plates.

Unlike a bain marie – which has recessed food containers – hotplates and warmers provide a smooth and consistent surface ideal for displaying food products of different sizes and shapes.

Electric hot plates and bain maries are both available in Counterline’s idesign range in styles including manhattan, integrale and countertops, with chilled and ambient temperature merchandising units available to match.

Talk to us about hot plates

Where are hot plates used?

Commercial & industrial hot plate merchandiser units are used in customer-facing locations, with fully enclosed models that ensure only serving staff have access to the heated compartment.

Commercial kitchen hot plates are also available in an open fronted design, used for customer self-service as hot food displays, for example on hot breakfast buffets, carveries and other similar locations.

Stylish construction and angled display shelves help to make sure all products are showcased to customers in their best light, making them appear more appetising and helping customers to make a faster and more confident selection.

They can also be used alongside chilled and ambient food merchandisers, or combined with bain maries for a versatile overall serving solution. The appearance of displayed hot food in restaurants is essential, our commercial restaurant hot plates incorporate the best performance with stylish design.

How do commercial hot plates work?

Ceramic hot plates are heated to a controlled temperature and keep food hot while it is on display, making them ideal for hot holding, merchandising, customer-facing serving hatches and hot food buffets.

Open fronted hot plates help create a free-flowing catering service, allowing customers to serve themselves – again ideal for buffets, carveries and so on, where you allow food to be collected without the need for a constant attendant

Enclosed hot plate units have an angled base display area and an upper shelf, increasing the total hot hold storage capacity, and ensure customers cannot come into contact with any hot surfaces.

Individual elements power each gastronorm module at between 500 and 600 Watts, with a choice of unit sizes ranging from two gastronorm hot plates up to four modules in enclosed hot plate units and five or six modules in open hot plate merchandisers.

There is also the option to add a hot plate to a bain marie unit by inserting a flush level ceramic plate into one of the recessed wells.
