Case Study: Aker Solutions, Aberdeen

As part of a major expansion in the UK, Aker Solutions took on 335,000 sq ft of premium office space at Aberdeen International Business Park, bringing together over 2,400 staff across three interlinked buildings directly opposite Aberdeen Airport.

With a strong focus on workplace wellbeing, the new site includes top-tier amenities—such as a fitness centre, nursery, auditorium, and expansive catering facilities—to support a growing and diverse workforce.

Delivering a High-Performance Catering Environment

Working alongside distributor ScoMac Catering Equipment Ltd, Counterline played a key role in delivering the front-of-house foodservice counters throughout the site. The brief called for premium finishes, versatility, and durability to support both volume service and varied dining options.

Counterline supplied a range of bespoke chilled, heated, and ambient food merchandisers tailored to each service point, including:

• Main servery counters supporting over 1,500 staff per service

• Satellite food and drink concepts, including a coffee shop, juice bar, deli, and nursery catering provision

• A mobile, self-venting live theatre counter—fully fabricated to allow for internal or external use during special events or informal dining

All Counterline units were designed with Corian front panels and high-quality finishes, supplied through ScoMac’s in-house specialist shopfitting team, ensuring a seamless integration with the building’s modern interior aesthetic.

Future-Focused & Flexible

The inclusion of a mobile live cooking station was a standout feature of the project, built for adaptability. With integrated venting and mobility, the unit allows for live cooking in the main servery, alfresco events on sunny days, or private dining in meeting rooms—highlighting Counterline’s ability to blend functionality with flexibility.

The Result

Early feedback from Aker Solutions and the appointed contract caterer has been overwhelmingly positive. Counterline’s contribution helped create a vibrant, future-proofed foodservice environment—balancing heavy-duty performance with high-end presentation.
