How to Maintain Your Refrigerated Display for Long-Term Performance

18/08/2025Ryan ParkerNews

Your refrigerated display works hard every day—keeping products chilled, safe, and beautifully presented. But like any commercial equipment, it needs regular attention to stay in top condition. A few simple maintenance steps can improve efficiency, extend lifespan, and reduce costly repairs.

Here’s a quick guide to keeping your refrigerated display running smoothly.

⚠️ Safety First

Before carrying out any maintenance:

  1. Unplug the unit to avoid electric shock.
  2. Wear gloves and protective eyewear.
  3. Keep cleaning fluids away from electrical components.

🧰 What You’ll Need

  • Soft brush or vacuum with brush attachment
  • Microfibre cloth
  • Mild detergent
  • Spray bottle with water
  • Fin comb (optional)
  • Screwdriver (if panels need to be removed)

🧼 Quick Cleaning Steps

1️⃣ Turn Off & Clear the Unit

• Switch off and unplug
• Remove food and interior trays/shelves

2️⃣ Locate & Clean the Condenser

• Access the coil (usually at the back or underneath)
• Use a soft brush or vacuum to remove dust and debris
• Be gentle to avoid bending the fins

3️⃣ Straighten Fins (If Needed)

• Use a fin comb to carefully realign bent fins

4️⃣ Light Wash (Optional)

• Spray with diluted detergent
• Wipe clean and avoid excess moisture
• Rinse lightly with water if necessary

5️⃣ Reassemble & Restart

• Reattach any access panels
• Plug the unit back in and ensure it’s cooling as expected

🧊 Extra Tip: Clean the Inside & Glass

• Wipe shelves and interior surfaces with food-safe cleaner
• Clean external glass panels for clear visibility
• Check seals for wear and wipe them regularly

🔄 How Often Should You Clean?

  • Every 1–3 months: Condenser coil cleaning
  • Weekly: Interior wipe-down and visual check
  • Annually: Professional inspection/service

Keep Your Refrigerated Display in Top Shape

Regular maintenance makes your refrigerated display more efficient, reduces energy use, and keeps your food presentation flawless.
